Illustrations for vet's guide for cat & dog owners on pet illnesses & emergencies

PROJECT

I was commissioned by Dr. Danielle Lawrie, a veterinarian from New Zealand, to illustrate a new book on pet first aid, illnesses, and emergencies, designed specifically for cat and dog owners. The book provides clear, step-by-step first aid procedures for pets, helping owners recognize signs of illness and injury and take immediate action when something goes wrong.

The illustrations demonstrate essential first aid techniques such as CPR for dogs and cats, how to help a choking pet, and how to assess your pet’s vital signs. These visual guides are intended to empower pet owners with the knowledge to keep their pets safe in emergencies before reaching a veterinarian.

To make the content engaging and easy to understand, we developed a clean, branded schematic style that simplifies complex veterinary procedures without losing accuracy. The graphics and diagrams are designed for a non-medical audience, making pet health education accessible to everyone.

In addition, all illustrations were created to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), ensuring the material is accessible to colorblind users and readable on digital platforms.
